eng Zhang Dali is one of the representatives of the new and successful Chinese painting since 1989. On his return to Beijing in 1993 he conceived and started his graffiti project in the city and began taking photographs of these actions up to 2000. Through his work, Zhang Dali’s aim is to call attention to the changes taking place in Chinese society fundamentally via the destruction of traditional neighbourhoods. Zhang Dali wishes to establish a dialogue with his fellow countrymen whom he looks upon as strangers in the face of the changes in the modernisation of the country...
